My focus is on making an accurate diagnosis and providing clear, practical advice about treatment options - whether that involves medical management or surgery. A key part of my role is helping you understand what is going on and what the most sensible next step is.
Common reasons patients see me include:
-Heavy or irregular periods
-Pelvic pain or suspected endometriosis
-Fibroids and enlarged uterus
-Postmenopausal bleeding
-Ovarian cysts
-Cervical abnormalities
-Concerns about prolapse or urinary incontinence
-Fertility concerns
Where surgery is required, I perform procedures such as hysteroscopy, laparoscopy and hysterectomy, with an emphasis on minimally invasive approaches and efficient recovery.
A key part of my role is helping patients understand whether surgery is necessary - and if so, what the expected benefits and risks are.
I have an experienced background in fertility medicine, which is particularly relevant when managing conditions such as fibroids, endometriosis, or uterine abnormalities where future fertility may be an important consideration.
I aim to provide straightforward, evidence-based advice and a clear plan, so you can make informed decisions with confidence.
I am also happy to see patients for a second opinion or when the situation is complex or not progressing as expected.
I have a particular interest in situations where the path forward is not so straightforward, including persistent symptoms, complex findings, or when previous treatment has not resolved the issue.
I am a well trained gynaecological surgeon with specific expertise in minimally invasive surgery including advanced laparoscopic techniques.
I undertook additional training in the UK and the USA in advanced gynaecological surgery, with a focus on improving surgical outcomes and recovery through less invasive approaches.
My surgical training in the UK included mentorship under the world leading gynaecologist Kevin Cooper, within a unit recognised for training surgeons to the highest level in laparoscopic techniques.
I completed my basic medical training in South Africa before moving to the UK to pursue specialist training and I now practice in Tauranga.
I also work with Fertility Associates, where I provide care for patients requiring fertility assessment and treatment.
