Kidney Stones (medical aspects)
In patients who have had more than one episode of kidney stone problems they are very likely to recur in the future. It is important to undertake metabolic screening of these individuals to identify the underlying cause of the propensity to form stones. This enables institution of the appropriate therapeutic measures to prevent recurrent stone formation. Treatment may be as simple as dietary adjustment alone, or may include medication.
