Bacterial Vaginosis
- BV is caused by an imbalance of the normal vaginal flora, causing an increase in vaginal discharge and an unpleasant odour
- BV will often get better (and recur) by itself. BV does not require treatment if you have no symptoms
- Treatment is usually with antibiotics called Metronidazole, taken for 7 days
- If BV is recurrent, this can cause problems with ongoing discharge and odour
- Treatment of recurrent BV can be frustrating but there are treatment options that we can offer you
