Profile

Ashwin specialises in gastrointestinal, liver and nutrition problems affecting babies, children and teenagers. He is Auckland-raised but undertook his medical training in Australia. He completed his Gastroenterology fellowship training at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney – the busiest paediatric liver transplant unit in Australasia. Here he gained expertise in Liver conditions, Inflammatory bowel disease, Intestinal failure and Endoscopy. He is accredited by the Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE).

Ashwin also works at Te Wao Nui – Child Health Service in Wellington Hospital. He is involved in National collaborative research projects and has presented at conferences including Australian Gastroenterology Week (AGW), The Transplantation Society (TTS) and World Congress of Gastroenterology (WCOG). Ashwin is passionate about optimising healthcare for young people and empowering them to pursue their interests.
