Profile

Dr Guy Fisher is a specialist gynaecologist and advanced laparoscopic surgeon based in Auckland. He is the only gynaecologist in New Zealand to have completed both the AGES-accredited Advanced Endoscopic Surgery Training Program (AATP) and the Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound (DDU) — a rare combination that allows advanced surgical and imaging expertise to be integrated into every stage of patient care, from diagnosis through to treatment and surgical planning.

Dr Fisher completed his medical training at the University of Otago before undertaking specialist training in Auckland, London, and Melbourne at internationally recognised centres for gynaecological surgery and ultrasound. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG).

His fellowship training includes the two-year AGES Advanced Endoscopic Surgery Training Program at The Royal Women's Hospital, Melbourne — the most advanced laparoscopic surgery training available in Australasia — with a focus on complex endometriosis and fibroid surgery. He also completed an advanced ultrasound fellowship at University College London Hospitals, one of the world's leading centres for gynaecological ultrasound. He holds a Master of Reproductive Medicine (with Excellence) from the University of New South Wales.

This training allows Dr Fisher to perform detailed pelvic ultrasound directly within consultations — including the specialist mapping of deep endometriosis, adenomyosis, and fibroids — and to plan and perform complex laparoscopic surgery with a high level of precision.

In addition to private practice, Dr Fisher holds a public hospital appointment with Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau at Middlemore Hospital, where he has been appointed to develop and lead a new Gynaecology Assessment Unit for acute gynaecology and early pregnancy, with ultrasound integrated at the core of assessment and decision-making. He also forms part of the hospital's specialist endometriosis team.

He provides fertility care at Fertility Associates Auckland, with a particular focus on patients whose fertility is affected by endometriosis, adenomyosis, or other underlying gynaecological conditions.
