Dr Jesse Gale is an ophthalmologist with specialist expertise in cataract surgery, glaucoma, and neuro-ophthalmology.  Jesse consults at Capital Eye Specialists in central Wellington, and also works in Wellington and Kenepuru Hospitals.
Jesse graduated from University of Otago with the prestigious Prince of Wales Prize as the top graduate of any undergraduate degree.  After ophthalmology training around New Zealand he had international fellowships in global ophthalmology (Fred Hollows Foundation, in Nepal, Australia, Fiji, Samoa and Tonga), and in neuro-ophthalmology (Doheny Eye Institute, Los Angeles, USA) and in glaucoma (Cambridge, UK).

Jesse accepts general ophthalmology referrals, with a specialist interest in cataracts, glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmology.  Neuro-ophthalmology refers to problems with the optic nerve, pupils or eye movements (double vision).  Jesse is particularly interested in how glaucoma and other optic nerve problems are linked and differentiated, and in managing glaucoma across populations and regions.
