Mairi graduated with MBChB from Stellenbosch University in South Africa in 1989, and after travelling for a few years went on to study for her FCOG which she received 1999 and MMed(O&G) in 2000, also from Stellenbosch University.

Prior to moving to Whangārei Mairi had been working as a specialist at National Women’s in Auckland since 2003. Most of this time was spent doing Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as being a member of the Urogynaecology team. Prior to this she worked in Paarl, South Africa, as the lead Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in a rural secondary hospital.

Mairi is a gynaecologist with a sub-specialist interest in urogynaecology. Mairi is particularly interested in the quality of life issues often faced by women as they get older. These include not only menopausal symptoms and incontinence but also sexual dysfunction and irregular or heavy periods. She is happy to discuss both conventional and alternative forms of treatment for most hormonal problems, including the use of herbal remedies and Bio-identical hormones.

Mairi is ACC accredited and thus able to help women with problems after traumatic childbirth, or complications from gynaecological surgery, including mesh complications.
