Originally from Auckland, Bevan worked in the Hawke's Bay Hospital twice during junior doctor rotations and has now been settled here permanently as a Consultant General Surgeon since early 2017 along with his fiance (who is a GP).

 Bevan completed undergraduate medical training at the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Human Biology (BHB) in 2003 and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) in 2006. Post-graduate years as a junior doctor were undertaken in Hawke's Bay, Auckland, Rotorua, New Plymouth and Palmerston North. Specialist General Surgical training was completed over that time with admission as a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2015. Post-fellowship training undertaken in 2016 at the Royal Darwin Hospital in Rural and Trauma Surgery. Accreditation as a certified Endoscopist was aquired in 2015 for both Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy by the New Zealand Conjoint Committee.
