Profile

Carl was raised in Johannesburg, South Africa and completed his undergraduate training at the University of the Witwatersrand (2002) before moving to South West London to continue with his orthopaedic training. He gained his Certificate of Completion of Training with the Royal College of Surgeons (UK) in 2015.  Thereafter, he relocated to New Zealand looking for a change of scenery and further subspecialty trauma training at Waikato Hospital before being fortunate enough to complete shoulder and elbow fellowships under Mr Peter Poon in Auckland, and Mr Thin Hong in Waikato. He now works full time as an upper limb surgeon at Waikato Hospital.

Carl’s sub-specialty interests include arthroscopic shoulder surgery, shoulder arthoplasty, elbow arthritis and general upper limb trauma. He is a member of the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association (NZOA), as well as the New Zealand Shoulder and Elbow Society (NZSES).
