My areas of surgical expertise include:
• laparoscopic procedures for colorectal disease, including colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease.
• the surgical management of pelvic floor disorders, including rectal prolapse and incontinence.
• colonoscopy.

While laparoscopic colorectal surgery is my special interest, I am available to perform a wide range of colorectal and general surgical procedures, including laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia and haemorrhoid surgery.

Colorectal Surgeon

I spent two years in colorectal training in Adelaide and Brisbane gaining experience in laparoscopic colorectal surgery alongside surgeons considered world leaders in this field. I have taught on a number of laparoscopic colorectal surgery courses in New Zealand.

Before joining Auckland City Hospital as a Colorectal and General Surgeon in February 2007, I was employed for three years as a Consultant and Senior Lecturer in the University Department of Surgery at Dunedin Hospital. My research includes the development of a “fast-track” recovery pathway for patients having laparoscopic colorectal surgery.
