Georgina practices her subspecialty interest in hip and knee replacement surgery within her general orthopaedic practice. Where appropriate, she advocates using the minimally invasive anterior approach to improve the outcome of hip replacements for her patients.

Georgina developed a strong interest in hip and knee replacement surgery as a medical student in New Zealand, with her senior years completed in Tauranga. She then practised as a locum here in Tauranga before taking up her fellowship in Adelaide, Australia. Here, she gained invaluable experience with high volume anterior hip and robotic knee subspecialist arthroplasty surgeons.

In returning to Tauranga, she brings the benefits of a new technique to her patients, with the anterior approach for hip replacements.

These benefits include less invasive surgery and a smaller wound, with faster recovery time and earlier discharge after surgery.

Georgina has a natural preference for personalised care of each patient and is careful to tailor the treatment she recommends for each patient’s needs. She believes her preference for individual relationships with her clients adds value to their discussions, leading to improved outcomes.

She finds that using technology as an adjunct in joint replacement surgery takes the patient’s natural anatomy into account and can help achieve a better recovery to normal life for her patients.
