Physiotherapy Inpatients
The Physiotherapy Service covers all Adult inpatient areas at ACH (excluding Mental health). Physiotherapists use their in-depth knowledge of how the body works, combined with hands-on clinical skills, to assess, diagnose and treat people’s symptoms of illness, injury or disability. Our aim is to help people make the most of their potential to participate in a full active life. First, we assess a patient’s problems. Then we establish treatment and rehabilitation goals to help them move, learn new skills, cope with any remaining disabilities and improve how they carry out the activities of daily life and recreation and provide a discharge plan for a wide range of conditions. We work closely with medical, nursing, social work and speech, and occupational therapy teams. Physiotherapy is available Monday to Friday. The on-call and weekend service is in place for inpatients whose condition would deteriorate without physiotherapy or who need physiotherapy in order to be discharged.

Physiotherapy Outpatients
Physiotherapy Outpatients provide a physiotherapy service to the residents of ADHB. It operates as a secondary and tertiary service provider, seeing patients with a wide range of cardiac, respiratory, orthopaedic, rheumatological, musculoskeletal and pelvic disorders. Priority is given to hospital based referrals however, there is a contract to also see GP referrals for patients living within ADHB catchment area. Referrals are required from a doctor, or dentist, or physiotherapist, or from a clinic and these should be sent to the ADHB Central Referrals Office at the Greenlane Clinical Centre. Our emphasis is on movement and function promoting self-management through active physiotherapy and patient centred treatment.

For statutory holidays, weekend days or out of hours call-back, please use the hospital operator as per the usual weekend protocol.
