Bentall's is a type of heart operation whereby the aortic valve is replaced along with the aortic root and ascending aorta (the beginning of the large blood vessel that carries blood from the heart to the body).
Recovery afterwards generally follows the same lines as recovering from heart valve operations. Daily warfarin tablets may be required after the operation in order to thin the blood a little. This prevents clots forming around the new valve or aortic tissue.
