Referral Expectations
Self or, with the patient's permission:
- GPs
- hospital staff
- specialists, and
- other health professionals.
Entry Criteria
- Adults whose continence issue has the potential to improve with physiotherapy intervention.
- Patients already under the care of the District Nursing Service continence nurse specialist may be transferred to the Pelvic Health Clinic in consultation with the continence nurse specialist.
Exclusion Criteria
- Obstetric patients are not eligible for this service. The Maternity Service will see patients in the antenatal period and up to 6 weeks postnatally. If further treatment is required after this time a referral will be made to Physiotherapy Outpatients for musculoskeletal issues or to the Pelvic Health Clinic for strengthening pelvic muscles.
