Formerly Counties Manukau Health Intensive Community Team (Mental Health)

Update: Our community told us we need to make some changes. In response, we are improving the way mental health services work with you. We want to assure you we will talk with all service users and their whaanau about how changes might affect their care. If you have any questions please talk to your mental health clinician.

The Counties Manukau Health Intensive Community Team (ICT) are a specialist mental health service.  We provide support for people with complex mental health concerns. Our goal is to promote recovery for all mental health services users.

We are part of the services provided by Counties Manukau Health Adult Mental Health.

Where Do We See People?

We see and support people in a variety of locations including their home, health clinics or another place they feel safe. These arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the service user.

Staff

We are a highly mobile team made up of a variety of mental health professionals. Our team includes:

  • Nurses
  • Social Workers
  • Community Support Workers
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Psychologists
  • Psychiatrists
  • Peer Support Workers

Our staff work in shifts and are available to help 7 days a week, 8.00am to 5:00 pm.

Referral Expectations

A psychiatrist or mental health specialist may suggest a referral to the Intensive Community Team if they think the service user requires extra support. The mental health specialist will contact ICT and discuss the mental health issues and what assistance is required. The service user will then be contacted by a member of the ICT team who will organise a meeting with them, their family or chosen support people, and the current mental health specialists.

This process can take some time, and ICT will work with the current carers to ensure the service user is still getting the help they need. If a service user does not meet the criteria, ICT will provide recommendations to the current mental health support providers.

For urgent psychiatric support at any time please contact Adult Mental Health Services on (09) 261 3700 or case of an emergency call 111.
