Community Based Alcohol and Drug Treatment

The Mental Health & Addictions Alcohol and Drug Service provides a range of consumer focussed, responsive community and inpatient alcohol and drug services, services for people with coexisting problems and for family/whānau affected by people with substance use problems. Alcohol and Drug treatment services are provided in each area in the context of the district based multidisciplinary Mental Health and Addiction Service.

Description

The Drive Soba Programme may be for suitable for you if: You have 3 or more EBA charges Your lawyer or the Judge has advised that you need to do a Programme Have an Alcohol and Drug Condition with Probation Would like support to stop Drink Driving Have lost your license indefinitely The course covers: The facts and effects of alcohol Reasons why people drink and drive Problem solving to stop drink driving Victim Empathy Developing a plan to not drink and drive

Referral Process

Referrals can come from self, lawyers, judges, probation, family/whānau, GPs, other services.

The first step is to make an appointment with us for an assessment to determine suitability for the DSP.

Description

The Drive Soba Programme may be for suitable for you if:

Timatanga Hou - New Beginnings. Our 3 bed detoxification unit has been set up to be as inviting as possible. Your withdrawals will be managed depending on your personal and medical history, the substance you use and how you use them. The unit has a day program of activities for you to participate in. There is a daily morning meeting and education sessions on addiction and tools for your recovery which you are required to attend. The staff will monitor your progress throughout your stay with us. You and your family/whānau can request as many meetings with the staff as you need. Please Note: The Unit will be closed from 18 December 2020 until 12 January 2021.

Timatanga Hou - New Beginnings. Our 3 bed detoxification unit has been set up to be as inviting as possible. Your withdrawals will be managed depending on your personal and medical history, the substance you use and how you use them.

The unit has a day program of activities for you to participate in. There is a daily morning meeting and education sessions on addiction and tools for your recovery which you are required to attend.

The staff will monitor your progress throughout your stay with us. You and your family/whānau can request as many meetings with the staff as you need.

The Northland Consumer Network’s peer support group is for people who are motivated in their recovery and are seeking support in maintaining their wellbeing. This group is run on the principles of mutuality and respect and is facilitated by people who are in recovery from addiction. In Whangārei, the group is held every Monday at 73 Water Street between the hours of 11.00 am - 1 pm.
