Neurosurgery is a surgical discipline that deals with operative management of diseases of the nervous systems, including brain, spinal cord, peripheral and autonomous nerves. It also deals with supporting structures like vessels, meninges, skull, spine, intervertebral discs and the pituitary gland.

Referral Expectations

Patients with urgent neurosurgical problems are likely to be referred directly to the Emergency Department at Wellington Hospital.

Non-urgent patients will have an appointment made for them in the Neurosurgical Outpatient Clinic.
