Postnatal Inpatient Care

Option of a free shared room or private fee-paying room:

Our postnatal care is unmatched by any other public or private facility and includes: breastfeeding advice, physiotherapy services and all the care and attention you need to be confident with your baby.

Birthcare has qualified lactation consultants on its staff.

You will have your own midwife assigned to you during each shift. You are able to speak to her directly by dialing her extension on your bedside phone.

At Birthcare we have a high midwife to patient ratio which means that your midwife has time to spend with you to ensure that you are confident with your baby before you go home.

Birthcare offers both standard and private rooms.

Standard rooms have 2 beds and an ensuite. They are paid for on your behalf by the District Health Board.

Private rooms have their own ensuite and offer a range of other services.

We also have a limited number of Premium Rooms (minimum 2 night stay).  In addition to the facilities in our private rooms, our large size 'Premium Rooms' have a queen sized bed and enhanced hotel services.

Check your medical insurance, as your policy may contribute towards a private room in Birthcare. You will need to pay upfront and claim back from your insurance company.

You can visit our website to view our room options.  Please see our schedule of charges for prices.
