What is the Relief of Pain Service?

  • We provide emergency pain relief for dental problems only.
  • You will be asked for proof of your NZ residency at the registration desk.

What will it cost?

  • $40.00 (except children and referred psychiatric inpatients).
  • This needs to be paid on the day of treatment.
  • We accept payment by cash or EFTPOS.
  • Some treatments will have extra charges, the dentist will advise you of any additional charges.
  • These fees only apply to NZ residents.
  • Non NZ residents will be charged the full cost of treatment.

What will my $40 cover?

  • A consultation, x-ray if required and a simple extraction of one tooth.
  • If during the consultation it is discovered the extraction is not simple, (e.g. some wisdom teeth) you will be advised to seek treatment from a private provider.
  • You may request copies of any x-rays taken to give to your private provider.
  • We are unable to refund the $40 if we are unable to offer treatment.

How can I be seen at the clinic?

  • Appointments are only made for the next working day.
  • There are limited appointments each day.
  • Once the clinic is fully booked for the next working day the phone line will be closed with a message advising options, including; seeking treatment in private, contacting other providers for community service card holders (a list of these can be found below) or calling the next working day.
