Description

Lakes DHB and Ministry of Education have a joint vision to enable and facilitate education to achieve its goals by having healthy, ready to learn children/tamariki in schools, kura and early childhood facilities.

This will be supported through:

  • knowledge to manage health presentations and behavioural issues
  • upskilling the workforce
  • creating efficient and effective pathways for referrals and feedback through a collaborative approach
  • where practically possible by making use of the Kahui Ako/Communities of Learning mechanisms.

The Wellbeing in Schools Project is really focused on supporting the school workforce to be empowered in schools as it relates to child health and wellbeing.  This workforce includes:

  • Teachers
  • Learning Support Coordinators (LSCs)
  • Resource Teacher - Learning and Behaviour (RTLBs)
  • Special Education Needs Coordinators (SENCOs)
