Bedwetting (Primary Nocturnal Enuresis)
In a child over 7 years who has isolated primary nocturnal enuresis, a referral can be made directly to the Enuresis Programme, Continence Service, Community Health, CCDHB. This is a regional service, covering CCDHB and Hutt Valley DHB. The service is based on NZ Paediatric Guidelines for Enuresis. The child needs to be wetting at least 3-4 times a week to be able to benefit from the programme. Additional information required should include family history, behavioural/developmental delay or identified issues that may impact on compliance. The referral letter must include the parent’s name and day contact phone number. Specialists referring to the service need to include the name of the General Practitioner. There is a charge for hiring the equipment and a waiting list of at least 4 months. Older children take priority over younger children. Referrers will receive a letter on receipt of the referral and at the completion of the programme.
