Lakes DHB Palliative Care

Public Service, Palliative Care

The Lakes DHB Palliative Care Service supports people and their families who are dealing with life-threatening illness, helping them to live as comfortably as possible.

A palliative care approach aims to improve quality of life by addressing social, psychological and spiritual needs as well as physical needs such as managing pain and other distressing symptoms.

We are a small specialist team who work closely with other hospital services including the Oncology and Cancer Care Co-ordination team. We also have strong ties with community services and hospices in the Lakes region.

Where to find us: see the Rotorua Hospital map here.

New Zealand citizens or those who have obtained permanent residence are entitled to publicly funded health care.

Non-residents may be required to pay for their health care.
