Specialist medical services provided by forensically trained doctors and nurses delivering medical assessments for children who have experienced sexual abuse.

Description:

Our staff will provide support and information and ensure you and your child's privacy is protected at all times when your child has an appointment following sexual abuse.  We will offer:

• Confidential support and advice
• Information on what to expect with appointments and procedures
• A general health check for your child including behavioural symptoms that may arise following abuse and provide advice on how to manage this
• A general medical examination
• Forensic examination if required
• Referral to specialist support agencies for ongoing support
• Assistance with ACC support for counselling

How to Access:

Referrals are accepted from Health Professionals, Police and Oranga Tamariki.  

If an acute sexual abuse medical assessment is required call (03) 385 5999 and ask to speak to the  Paediatrician on call.
