Profile

Eileen is a general haematologist with a sub-specialist interest in venous thromboembolism. Eileen completed her specialist qualifications in 2010, after undertaking a thrombosis fellowship at Monash Medical Centre. She is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia. Eileen also works at Waitemata Health, where she is the Clinical Director of Haematology and Lead Thrombosis Clinician.

Eileen was the principal investigator of the TWISTER study (Two Weeks of Low Molecular Weight Heparin for Isolated Symptomatic Distal DVT), which formed the subject for her PhD (Monash University). She is an author on several VTE-related Australasian guidelines and is on the editorial boards for the leading thrombosis journals, JTH and RPTH. Eileen is a previous New Zealand councillor and past president of the Thrombosis Society of Australia and New Zealand (THANZ), a member of the THANZ Clinical Trials Group and International Society of Thrombosis & Haemostasis (ISTH) Live Education Committee, and is the NZ Councillor for the Asia-Pacific Thrombosis & Haemostasis Society.
