Maxine Ronald is a General and Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon who has recently returned to Northland and is a descendant of  Nga Puhi and Ngāti Wai.
After completing her surgical training in New Zealand she took up a Colorectal/Acute Surgical Unit fellowship in Fremantle Hospital, Perth. Following this she completed  an oncoplastic fellowship at Royal Perth Hospital.
Maxine is the Deputy Chair of the Indigenous Health Committee of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. She has a special interest in improving Māori cancer health outcomes which remain below those of non-Māori.
Although her specialty is breast surgery she is very interested in acute General Surgery and trauma and is committed to improving access to acute care and streamlining the acute care pathway.
