Ray graduated from the University of Otago and in 1988 gained a postgraduate diploma in clinical dentistry (periodontics). He has a special interest in implants and oral surgery.
Ray owned a practice in Gisborne for over 25 years and has been involved with providing voluntary dentistry in Cambodia, Fiji and Thailand.
In his spare time he enjoys outdoor activities.
