Description
Shama works to connect ethnic people who have experienced sexual harm or sexual violence with services that can help and support them, including counselling, therapy and crisis support.
Ages: Ethnic people of all ages
Region: All of New Zealand
Description: Shama provides culturally-appropriate support and advocacy for ethnic people in New Zealand.
Crisis Connection Service:
If you are experiencing or have experienced sexual harm, we have an ethnic co-ordinator you can talk to. She will help you find the right support service and will work with you, and the service that you want to use so that they understand your cultural or religious needs.
Counselling and Therapy:
If you have experienced sexual harm, Shama can connect you with an ethnic counsellor or therapist to provide ongoing support through our ACC service. We have therapists right across the country who can work with you and people are available to provide online counselling, to ensure you have the right fit.
Training and Advice:
Shama can provide training and cross-cultural advice to those who are working with ethnic people who have experienced sexual harm.
