AWHI Healthy Homes Initiative

Social Service

AWHI is a free healthy homes initiative for whānau living in the Counties Manukau area. We work with you to ensure your home supports the health and wellbeing of your whānau.

If you'd like our support, our friendly AWHI team will work with your whānau to create a plan that focuses on what you think will make a difference in your home. We then work together to put the plan into action until your home feels warm, dry and healthy.

The AWHI Healthy Homes Initiative offers:

  • Social housing
  • Access to financial support
  • Insulation
  • Heating
  • Thermal curtains
  • Carpet
  • Ventilation
  • Minor home repairs
  • Private rental information
  • Beds and bedding
  • Practical advice to keep your home warm and dry

If you'd like to know more, you can contact us directly, ask your health professional to make an AWHI referral, or fill out a referral form and email to us at

Referral Expectations
Whānau that fit the criteria are eligible for our healthy homes service. Referrals can come from health professionals or whānau can self-refer. We are happy to take calls regarding eligibility.

Referral Forms can be downloaded below.

We also provide referral training for Health and Social work agencies who would like to refer whānau they work with.
