Philosophy of care: I see my role as midwife is to provide support and information; to help women develop into mothers who trust in their innate ability to birth and have confidence in their parenting instincts. I believe pregnancy and childbirth are normal life events and that women are capable of making their own choices about what is right for them and their families. I encourage women to be self-determining in their healthcare and enjoy working alongside them to achieve their goals.
Back up midwife: Nikky Church
Birth facilities attended: home births, Birthcare Parnell and Waitakere Hospital.
General bio: I am an experienced midwife with 2 children of my own. I spent 4 and a half years prior to coming to BirthWest caring for many women with obstetric, medical and/or social complexities. I understand women are unique and have varying degrees of need or desire for referral to specialist care. I am against unnecessarily interfering with a normal pregnancy and birthing process but am experienced in identifying the need for further input. I will happily work with women and other specialists if needed, to achieve a safe and satisfying transition.
