Subject: Important Announcement Regarding Changes in Kowhai Clinic

Dear valued Kowhai Clinic patients,

We write to you with important news regarding recent changes with Kowhai Clinic that may have caused some confusion. We understand the importance of clear communication and want to ensure that you have accurate information.

We want to emphasize that Kowhai Clinic is still fully operational during normal hours and
Dr. Shujaullah will continue to see patients.

HOURS: Mon/Tuesday 8:30am-6:00pm
              Wed-Friday    8:30am-5:30pm

Saturdays       9:00am-12:00pm

* We are now also open on Saturdays from 9:00am-12:00pm to cater for our busy families who cannot see a medical professional on the weekdays.

Our dedicated team, including Nurse Sneh and our reception staff (Joanne, Schehera, Salima, and Neha) are committed to providing the same level of care and assistance you have come to expect from Kowhai Clinic.

We understand that changes in healthcare providers can be unsettling, and we want to assure you that your well-being is our top priority. If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our reception team at (09) 4442098 or email us at reception@kowhaiclinic.co.nz and they will be more than happy to assist you.

Please also be informed that due to these changes, our ManagemyHealth Systems is currently down. We assure you that our IT team is working hard to get this fixed and we endeavor for this to be available for you to use from Monday next week.

We appreciate your understanding and continued trust in Kowhai Clinic. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your healthcare journey.

Regards,

Dr Shujaullah Kamali and the rest of the Kowhai Clinic Team

Well Child/Tamariki Ora Health Checks – Birth to Three Years

All New Zealand children are entitled to 11 free health checks from birth to three years. The checks aim to ensure that children are growing and developing as well as possible. Included in the checks are clinical assessment, health education and family/whānau support.

Baby checks are at birth and then at 24 hours, five days and around 2-4 weeks. Babies are weighed and measured to ensure that they are developing correctly. These sessions provide a great opportunity for parents to ask questions from an expert and have any problem addressed; difficulties with breastfeeding or sleep for example. They can also be used to discuss immunisations and vaccinations. These checks will be carried out by your lead maternity carer (LMC).

Between the ages of 4-6 weeks and three years, there are seven core health checks available, typically these are around 4-6 weeks, 8-10 weeks, 3-4 months, 5-7 months, 9-12 months, 15-18 months and 2-3 years. These checks may be carried out by a Well Child Provider of your choice e.g. Plunket, Māori health provider, community nurse, a general practice team (doctor and practice nurse). Your LMC will be able to give you a list of Well Child Providers in your area.

More information about Well Child services is available on the Ministry of Health website.

Please note that this is only done at the 6-week check where the baby is seen by both the nurse and the doctor in conjunction with the first immunisation.  Any concerns about your baby's well-being please phone the clinic and an appointment will be made to see your G.P.
