Description
We are a community based service team, providing therapy and social work to assist children with special needs and their family/whanau achieve their full potential in their daily lives. We work with children in schools, kindergartens, home, community, clinics and recreation centres.
Children under our service have diagnoses including but not limited to cerebral palsy, global developmental delay, muscular dystrophy, chromosomal abnormalies, spina bifida, children with plagiocephaly who also have a disability, premature or low birth weight infants who are 'at risk'.
We are an interdisciplinary, allied health team which includes:
- Occupational Therapy
- Physiotherapy
- Speech Language Therapy
- Social Work
- Visiting Neurodevelopment Therapy
Referral Expectations
A child and their family can be referred to the service through doctors and allied health professionals such as:
- General Practitioners
- Neonatal Services and Paediatric Medical and Surgical Services
- Community Health Services e.g. Plunket
- Other Health Funding Authority contracted Health and Disability Services
- Education Funded Services e.g. Special Education, CCS Disability Action
- Children Youth and Family Services
- Needs Assessment & Service Coordinator Agencies e.g. Taikura Trust
